Dan Mohler

Cee Cee James

Biography

Bassist, Dan Mohler has been playing music since starting piano in the second grade and then later with the playing of cello and upright bass in forth and fifth grades. Leaving the cello behind and concentrating on bass in the fifth grade, Dan began playing electric bass in the 7th grade. He graduated from both Junior High and High School playing both electric and upright bass in various school bands and ensembles, classical orchestral settings, and bands outside of school. While still only 17 years of age, Dan began playing bass professionally in lounge bands and show groups. His college education centered on musical performance of most any genre with bass as his main instrument and focus. By the time he was 20, he had also become a busy recording studio session player on bass for jingle productions and was hired to lay bass tracks for many various artists and their recording projects, thereby creating a discography too lengthy to list here. Over 35 years later, Dan is still pursuing his career an as active 'live' musician and recording session bassist for many well-known acts. Among his current 'live' performance projects is a Seattle based blues band by the name of the Cee Cee James Band.

"Blues music has always interested me, but until meeting Cee Cee and her husband Rob, I have never had an opportunity come along that I felt I wanted to be a part of. Cee Cee's band gave me that opportunity when they called me to help them with bass tracks to finish their most recently released CD, 'Lowdown Where The Snakes Crawl'. After finishing the record, Cee Cee and Rob asked me if I would be interested in performing 'live' with the Cee Cee James Band and being part of their ongoing Blues project. I said yes and the rest is history!"

Dan plays Fender Precision and Jazz basses, most having modifications in pickups and hardware. Also in his arsenal are many custom made fretted and fretless basses, both 4 and 5 string. Amplification is Ampeg and Peavey with various custom cabinets using 15 inch speakers.
