Biography

Robert Lansing Andrews had a neighbor who's friend introduced him to the blues, namely an Albert King record, when he was around 12 years old. Shortly thereafter he found himself playing rhythm guitar, and seven years later he switched to playing bass.

Rob played guitar with various blues and rock bands in the Bay Area until he was 19 when he was ask to play a fill in gig for Luther Tucker at the "19 Broadway Club" in Fairfax, previously called "Tuckers."  After the gig Luther Tucker hired Rob as his "bass player" off and on for the next 3 years.

Following the tenure with Luther Tucker, Rob continued to play bass and record for 7 years with Fillmore Slim - well known in the San Francisco area as the "Pimpin Blues Man," playing extensive gigs at the Blue Mirror, Jaks, The Famous Fillmore Street Blues Club, etc.  During this time, Rob also played bass for John Byrd of Quicksilver Messenger Service.

Rob then received a call from "Detroit Frank Dumont," out of Michigan, who had heard of Rob's bass playing and ask him to come in and audition.  Frank at that time was playing in the Bucket of Blues Band in the Bay Area with Deacon Jones, Freddie Kings Hammond player.  Rob got the job and went on to tour with Frank and his band "Drivin Wheels," all throughout the Chitlin Circuit down south for 5-1/2 years along with Dave Maxwell on Piano, Duke Jethro on Hammond Organ, and Bruce Lamentia on Drums.

Rob then got an offer from Arista recording artist, Derek Davis to record and tour with The American Blues Box - an intense roadhouse blues band that played the I-5 corridor circuit from Los Angeles all the way up to Mt. Shasta, CA.  The American Blues Box project produced 2 albums which sold several thousand copies in the U.S. and Europe.

In 2003 life took a turn and Rob found himself in Oregon searching for a new project and played pick up gigs with Kenny Blue Ray and a few other bands.  In early 2005, he joined The Cee Cee James Band.  During this time, an accident at work caused a dramatic change in his life which forced him out of his life long day employment and into relying on being a full time musician in order to make a living.  He also decided it was time to lay down his bass and pick up that guitar he had laid down at 19 years old.  It was a wise decision as evidenced by the seven tunes he wrote with Cee Cee on LOW DOWN WHERE THE SNAKES CRAWL.
