Cee Cee James : Raw and Real : Roots Rock and Blues

Lyrics

Cee Cee James

On March 30, 2004, in the sweet afternoon sunlight, Cee Cee's 2nd partner surrendered to the Angels who had been waiting patiently to take him home.  Over the course of a year and 2 months filled with surgery, radiation, chemo, stomach tubes and intravenous feeding, he slowly surrendered his quiet pride, his body and beautiful soul, his sacred belongings and his human relationships with friends and family in order to take that final deep breath and let go.  The cancer ravaged him and took his body, but it took nothing else.  He lives on in the heavens, and in all who knew and loved him.

HE CALLED ME ANGEL (Single)

He Called Me Angel
He held me when it rained
He Called Me Angel
He held me through my pain
He Called Me Angel
Knew just what I needed
He Called Me Angel
And he loved me, just for me

He came along when my love was broken
He helped me heal my wounded wings
And I came along when his love was lonely
And I loved him, like a king
Heaven must have danced, welcoming this precious man
Stars shining bright, lightin’ up his path
    With God’s open arms embracing
    Welcome home, welcome home again

He Called Me Angel
Under stars on desert sand
He Called Me Angel
In the forest holding hands
He Called Me Angel
Makin’ love in the sweet soft winds
He Called Me Angel
Even... at the end
Even at the end

This was a man who learned to walk humble
A man who paid his life dues
And God blessed his path rewarding him with honor
And he left this earth, an innocent man
Heaven must have danced, welcoming this precious man
Stars shining bright, lightin’ up his path
    With God’s open arms embracing
Welcome, welcome home, welcome home again

I called him angel
I held him when it rained
I called him angel
I loved him through his pain
I called him angel
As his soul surrendered in
I called him angel
And I loved him just for him
Ummmm, even at the end
